Music by The Piano Brothers

Roseann Mechele (Fish) Long, age 54, of the Painttown community in Cherokee passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Rose was a strong, compassionate, independent, loyal, brave and very hardworking woman. She was a great example of what a wife, sister, mother, and granny should be. She enjoyed her time, her special friends, and her students from the time she worked at Smoky Mountain Elementary school. She also worked at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino where she made great friends as well. If she wasn’t working you could find her riding in the mountains, cruising on the lake, making crafts, having a house full of family, and listening to music. She was very caring and her family always came first. Rose obtained a Bachelors in Business from Montreat College and later in life retired from Smoky Mountain Elementary School and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

Rose is survived by her husband Leonard Long, her father Curtis Ray Fish and her mother Annette Faye Fish, her children Miranda Long Stamper, Michelle Lynn Long and Madison Hye Long of Cherokee. She is survived by 4 grandchildren; Matix Danger Stamper, Joscelyn Kierce Stamper, Cambry Amarra Stamper, Joe Keet Long; and her sister Beatrice May Locust and her husband Luke Locust, as well as her sister in laws, Sammi Saunooke and husband Brian Saunooke, and Josie Long. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews; Jim-bob, Joe-Don, Tre, Crystle, Luke, George, Utsela; and many great nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceeded in death by her brothers, Joe Curtis Fish and Barry Curtis Fish, as well as her niece, Justice Rain Bark.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Bethabara Baptist Church. A service will follow directly after starting at 6:00 pm.

To the Family of Rose Long,
My deepest sympathy in the loss of Rose. I worked with her at Smokey Mountain Elementary for many years. She was a sweet lady that always cared about her co-workers and the students that she worked with. Always smiling and loving life. Her girls were her life and family meant everything to her. She will be missed by the many friends that she made along the way. So sorry again for your loss. Love and prayers

Rose was truly one of the most involved and caring parents that I ever had the opportunity to work with. She was always interested in and cared about what her children were doing. Rose will be dearly missed by all that knew and worked with her. My prayers and thoughts are with her entire family as they go through this very difficult time.

Rose was one of the best people I know. She always spoke to you no matter who you were without judgement. She was so kind and loving. She always had a funny story to tell and loved to laugh. She will be missed greatly by our family and many others.

Dear Family, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dear loved one. Our loving Creator never planned for death to be part of his original plan. There is such a loving scripture found at Revelation 21: 3 & 4 which reads: With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say “ Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, And they will be his people, And God himself will be with them, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The Former things have passed away “ I hope these words help you find comfort and also give you hope for our near future.

To The Family,
There are no words powerful enough to express the sorrow felt concerning the passing of dear your loved one. By sacrificing his perfect human life for us Jesus Christ provided the ransom needed to redeem humankind from sin and death. Jesus' death also paved the way for us to be comforted when a loved one falls asleep in death. (John 3:16; John11:11-14,25) One day soon we will no longer experience the pain of losing our loved ones to that ugly enemy death. (1 Corinthians 15:26) In the near future there will be a reuniting, yes, a bringing back to life instead of losing life. (John 5:28,29) Until then, may this promise from The Almighty and His Son give you peace and calm your aching hearts. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Sincerely,
Mr. Terry
